Results Worth Striving For

The mental health field is plagued with the bigotry of low expectations. Far too many people are talking about "changing the stigma," while creating the worst stigma of all--the idea that we are not capable of achieving greatness. While their intentions are good, they are doing terrible harm to everyone with a mental condition and those who love and support them. This "can't do" attitude is rampant in professionals, consumers, friends and family, and advocates. So attached are they to their self-defeating view, some even attack anyone who suggests that we can have a better life. It is time to stand up to such negativity by describing real Results Worth Striving For.

Every human being is capable of achieving greatness. We can make our lives meaningful if we set goals that challenge ourselves while making sure that they are not so difficult that we get discouraged. Bipolar In Order is about setting realistic goals with the help of your entire team and having the support to make them happen. Making them happen means setting achievable milestones and adjusting the steps as necessary along the way. Your personal "Life Plan" includes milestones as well as concrete actions to take on the first day. Once the first milestones are accomplished, you gain the confidence and skills to achieve your highest aspirations.

Depending on our starting point, habits, and resistance to change, we may begin with modest goals; but, we must also accept what is possible with enough time and effort. Anything else is accepting a diminished life.

A truly great life encompasses your entire life as a whole, not just parts of it. Your Life Plan needs to be all inclusive as well, and address all areas: Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Relationships, and Career/Financial.

Our ultimate possibilities:
